The matchup gives Charlo a recognizable opponent with an attacking style that would test whether his confidence at 168 is backed by enough remaining ability to contend.

“The fight with [Munguia] makes the most sense,” Charlo said to Fight Hub TV. “I’d love to fight him right here in Houston. Mexican crowd, sold out.”

Charlo also floated appearing on a Canelo Alvarez card in Mexico, although he gave no indication that negotiations with Munguia have begun. Houston is his preferred location, and the appeal is straightforward: a hometown appearance against a popular Mexican fighter offers a bigger occasion than another routine comeback bout.
