The Pittsburgh Penguins want to be harder to play against defensively - and the Detroit Red Wings may have a perfect trade target.
Yahoo Sports · October 4, 2026

Of course, one of the most prominent is that of former Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin, who requested a trade during the summer and started the season on injured reserve. At Detroit's home opener Friday, Larkin was introduced to a less-than-pleased crowd , who booed him relentlessly and chased him back into the locker room.
But Larkin is not the only Red Wings player in a tough situation with the organization. So, too, is 23-year-old left defenseman Simon Edvinsson.
Edvinsson was selected sixth overall by Detroit in 2021, and he is currently a restriced free agent without a new contract. The towering 6-foot-6, 222-pound Swedish blueliner registered nine goals and 25 points in 72 games last season and was a staple on the Red Wings' top defensive pairing alongside Moritz Seider.
