Rangers rookie Dylan Garand records first career shutout, earns praise from Mike Sullivan

The 24-year-old Canadian - who was drafted by the Rangers in the fourth round of the 2020 NHL Draft - was sent down to the team's AHL affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack, on Sunday, Sep. 27.

This came on the heels of Garand's promising NHL debut last year, albeit in very small sample size. Garand started three games towards the tail end of a rough Rangers season and posted a .954 save percentage, saving 3.9 goals above expected as the Rangers went 2-0-1.

"I had a number of conversations with [Garand] when the decision was made to send him to Hartford," explained head coach Mike Sullivan . "He knows that we believe in him. He's a good, solid goalie."
