More than 13 years on the shelf cannot be erased by one easy night in Denmark.

Kessler made the comeback official Thursday at a press conference in Copenhagen, with promoter Kalle Sauerland staging the event at Brondby Hallen. The opponent is 36-year-old Bernard Joseph, who holds a modest record of 12-4-1 with five knockouts. Joseph has dropped three of his last five outings, failing to secure a win since last year.

George Foreman remains the blueprint everyone cites whenever an aging fighter laces up the gloves, yet people forget the grueling road Foreman took. Big George started his comeback at 38, rattling off 24 straight wins just to earn a crack at Evander Holyfield. When he finally caught Michael Moorer to recapture the heavyweight crown, he was 45. Kessler is launching this comeback two full years older than Foreman was when he knocked out Moorer, without any of the warm up rounds.
