A punishing defeat on October 31 would leave Canelo weighing whether another championship pursuit is worth the physical cost.

Watching Mexico’s national soccer team at Estadio Azteca inspired Canelo to picture his final fight there. He later held a Zoom call with Emilio Azcárraga to explore staging a farewell in Mexico City.

“I want my last fight to be in Mexico,” Canelo told ESPN. “I visualized myself fighting there.”
