Yankees news: Clarke Schmidt shut down for the season

NY Post | Greg Joyce : Aaron Judge is in the middle of a battle against time and his own body to be ready for the AL Division Series. On Wednesday the captain and three-time AL MVP was in Somerset, where he was scheduled to get some live at-bats with a group of players staying ready in case they are needed, such as Luis Gil , Eli Morgan and Justin Topa . There's still a couple hurdles for Judge to clear, including running the bases, but he's got a few more days to make his case before the Yankees finalize their ALDS roster.

MLB.com | Jonathan Mayo & Sam Dykstra : The always exciting Arizona Fall League starts this weekend on Saturday, and MLB.com went through every organization's sleeper prospect. The Yankees' representative is right-hander Antonio Gómez. The former catcher now has a potentially deadly fastball-slider combo on the mound and has shown the ability to touch the triple digits with the heater. He is still very much a project, but there's a lot of potential in his arm.

NY Daily News | Gary Phillips Ben Rice is a Statcast darling. Even when he struggled in 2024 as a rookie, he boasted elite barrel, chase, and walk rates. His personal page Baseball Savant was full of red in 2025 and 2026, which is fitting because he is one of the most data-driven and analytical hitters on the Yankees.
