The Cowboys added an impact defensive player to help on that side of the ball.
Yahoo Sports · October 1, 2026

The Dallas Cowboys owner made a move, with room to possibly make another splash before November's trade deadline. Dallas dealt a 2028 second-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers for their young cornerback Joey Porter Jr., a second-round selection in 2023, according to Yahoo Sports' Jori Epstein . Netflix's Tom Pelissero initially reported the trade .
It wasn't the all-in move that Jones has teased. But it's still a big move that should help improve a defense that hasn't been great to start the 2026 season .
Joey Porter Jr., who was traded to the Cowboys on Wednesday, has not yet played this regular season.
