Bryce Harper lets Braves take lead with fielding blunder, makes up for it with game-tying HR next inning

With his Philadelphia Phillies facing elimination Wednesday against the Braves , the two-time MVP made a critical late-game defensive blunder that allowed Atlanta to take the lead.

With two men on and one out in a 1-1 game in the bottom of the seventh, Braves slugger Drake Baldwin hit a deep fly ball to right field. Harper was in position to make the catch, but he misjudged the ball.

By the time he realized his mistake, it was too late. He backed up toward the warning track, but the ball bounced off his glove and over his head. The misplay allowed Sean Murphy to scored from second base for a 2-1 Atlanta lead.
