Jack Smith probe answers the big question: The Iowa Hawkeyes aren’t the Atlanta Hawks

Schmitt confidently (and cockily) claimed that he had evidence from a series of text messages that Jack Smith was in Atlanta on Feb. 3, 2024, watching the Atlanta Hawks play the Golden State Warriors . Just one problem: Smith was actually in Maryland, seeing the Iowa Hawkeyes play Maryland.

"It … it was because Caitlin Clark was coming to Maryland to play. That's why we went to the game," Smith said. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minnesota) tried to hold back her laughter at the gaffe, before criticizing her fellow senator for insinuating Smith was a "dirtbag" over his incorrect "evidence," while also taking a shot at his lack of hoops knowledge: "For a U.S. Senator to have false information, and imply, based on a confusion about the name of a team — which I knew, knowing my midwestern sports…"

Smith said that he was present at the game with members of the U.S. Marshall's service, which was confirmed. He absolutely was not in Atlanta, when Schmitt said he was. But … should he have been?! Let's compare the game he went to, with the one that Schmitt thought he was at.
