Cavs player preview: Meleek Thomas – How will the Cavaliers balance development and need?

The Cavaliers were immediately validated for their trade down and selection of Thomas in the Summer League. He set Las Vegas ablaze to the tune of 27.3 points per game. This not only led all players in the circuit but also earned Thomas a spot on the Summer League First Team. Thomas was the only non-lottery player to earn this selection.

It's early, but the Cavaliers appear to have selected a player with a solid foundation.

The Cavaliers have shuffled their bench this offseason, leaving some question marks. When Summer League ended, the bench still consisted of Max Strus and Dennis Schröder . With both now residing on other teams, the bench has a lot of " mystery box " players. Mario Hezonja , Tyrese Proctor , Craig Porter Jr. , Khalifa Diop, and Nae'Qwan Tomlin are all interesting players; however, they are a far cry from what you would call "stable" or "safe" options.
