Stephen Curry signs 2-year, $116 million extension with Warriors: What it means

The Warriors announced Friday, Sept. 25 that Curry signed a contract extension with the team. A person with knowledge of the deal told USA TODAY Sports that the two-time MVP and Golden State agreed on a two-year, $116 million extension with a player option in 2028-29.

The person requested anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly disclose the details.

Throughout the offseason, both Curry and the Warriors have denied any speculation that the four-time champion would be going to another team. Curry was eligible to be a free agent in July 2027, but general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr . has continuously expressed the importance of Curry retiring as a Warrior.
