Stephen Curry signs 2-year, $116 million extension to stay in Golden State

The team confirmed the extension on Friday, but did not provide details. The deal reportedly includes a player option in the 2028-29 season, per Charania.

Curry could add a maximum of two years to his existing contract due to the "over-38 rule" in the collective bargaining agreement between the NBA's teams and players union. Tacking two more years at 35% of the projected salary cap line — the maximum wage he's eligible to command as a player with 10 or more years of NBA service time — onto the one-year, $62.6 million extension he signed back in 2024 will bring the total value of Steph's current contract to $178.6 million through the end of the 2028-29 campaign. (Add that to the new 10-year, $400 million endorsement deal with Li-Ning , and it's been an awfully lucrative summer for your man Steph.)

That would be Curry's 20th season as a Warrior. Only 12 players in NBA history have played 20 or more seasons. Only three — Dirk Nowitzki , Kobe Bryant and Udonis Haslem — have spent the entire span with one franchise.
