Red Wings Get Closer To Final Roster With Latest Reductions

It won't be long before the Detroit Red Wings open the 2026-27 regular season, with just one exhibition game remaining before the real action begins Oct. 2.

Between now and Monday, however, every NHL team must trim its roster to 23 players or fewer. The Red Wings took another step toward that requirement with their latest round of roster moves.

Additionally, forward Kienan Draper and defensemen Justice Christensen, Alex Kannok Leipert , and Jacob Truscot have all been released from their professional tryouts; All four players will return to Grand Rapids.
