Willson Contreras' lingering injury worries Red Sox ahead of potential Wild Card series vs. Yankees

With this in mind, the most recent news coming out of Boston certainly shakes up the outlook for their potential playoff series in New York.

All-Star first baseman Willson Contreras , who was hit on the right hand against the Texas Rangers on Sep. 17, is still unable to swing a bat due to the pain.

"I tried to swing the bat yesterday, and couldn't swing, I tried to swing the bat today, and couldn't swing," Contreras lamented. "It's really concerning... I couldn't hit because my hand hurts, my right hand just feels weaker. It's not a good sign."
