Doc Rivers returns to broadcast booth, joins NBC ahead of 2026-27 NBA season

"I loved playing the game, I loved coaching it, and I've always loved talking about it," Rivers said. "I have great memories working with NBC, and I'm excited to be back and share my perspective alongside such a talented team. This season should be a lot of fun. I can't wait."

The 64-year-old Rivers has plenty of experience in the realm. After his 13-year playing career ended, Rivers called games for TNT before becoming a coach with the Orlando Magic . He then turned back to broadcasting after the Magic fired him in 2003, joining ESPN/ABC until his next coaching opportunity opened up. He did the same thing in 2023 before accepting the Milwaukee Bucks ' head-coaching job.

Rivers lasted two-plus seasons as the Bucks' coach before he stepped down in April.
