Today on Pinstripe Alley – 9/21/26

The Yankees will try to win out of pride, but the Rays will almost certainly clinch the AL East in the Yankees' own ballpark — just as the Blue Jays did when they dispatched the Yanks in the 2025 ALDS, just as the Dodgers did when the Yanks utterly fell on their asses in 2024 World Series Game 5, and just as the Astros did when they swept 'em out of the ALCS after Judge's 62-homer season. (Add the 2018 Red Sox and 2015 Astros to the roll call if you want more unpleasant memories.)

The difference here is at least that the Yankees will have a shot at revenge on Tampa Bay in the ALDS … but it's a conditional shot. They'll need to get by the Red Sox in the Wild Card Series again, just as they did last year. Your mileage may very on their odds, but we'll have the next full week to ponder it.

Today on the site, we skip the minors recap because Scranton was rained out to end the Yankees' minor-league season (stay tuned for Arizona Fall League action soon!) and go straight into Kevin on the Rivalry Roundup.
