Mets can’t hang with Phillies in gloomy loss

On a rainy day in New York, the Mets lineup never got going against Philly starter Cristopher Sanchez . Mets starter Jonah Tong had a rough day, giving up four runs and four walks with five strikeouts.

The Phillies took a 2-0 lead in the first inning with a sacrifice fly from Luis Arraez and an RBI single from Alec Bohm . Tong gave up a walk and two hits in the first, then was knocked to the ground on a collision with Bryson Stott in the process of getting the final out at first base. Tong limped to the dugout but shook it off and returned to the game.

Tong bounced back with a 1-2-3 inning in the second, but gave up a pair of runs in the third with a steady rain falling at Citi Field.
