Mets Morning News: No. 15 in the rafters, Benge makes history, Howie puts it in the books

Carson Benge's third hit of yesterday's game was his 156th of the season , which snaps the record previously held by Pete Alonso for most hits by a Mets rookie in a season .

Greg Prince of Faith and Fear in Flushing reflected on Carlos Beltrán's place in Mets history and his place among other Mets who have had their numbers retired. Benge's twelve three-hit games are also a Mets rookie record .

When asked about the Mets' managerial job, Carlos Beltrán was noncommittal , stressing that he enjoys his current role in the front office. But he left the possibility open that he would interview for the position.
