49ers are expected to have Eddy Pineiro for Sunday; 2 players fined

Joseph, 32, last kicked in 2018. He has more recent punting experience, which came in 2023. Koo was most recently with the Giants in 2025. Raheem Morris knows Koo well, as he was the Falcons kicker from 2018 through the early part of the 2025 season.

According to Matt Maiocco, the team did not sign either one, which means they're confident Eddy Pineiro is no longer sick and will be available for Sunday's home opener against the Miami Dolphins .

Pineiro didn't practice all week due to an illness. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said on Friday the team would work out kickers ahead of the game. It was unclear whether that move was preventive. Turns out, that's exactly what happened.
