The Miami Dolphins are sending Tutu Atwell back to the Rams in exchange for a running back.
Yahoo Sports · August 27, 2026

In return, the Dolphins received running back Jacquez Hunter. A 2025 fourth-round pick, Hunter played special teams for the Rams last year, appearing in five games early in the season before spending the final 11 games of the year inactive.
Atwell was expected to provide a veteran presence in the wide receiver room, where Miami is relying on several rookies, but he was never able to find a chemistry with quarterback Malik Willis and was sliding closer and closer to the cut line.
Veteran wide receiver Jalen Tolbert , who signed as a free agent this year, is set to fill the role Atwell was attempting to hold this season. Rookie receivers Caleb Douglas (third-round draft pick), Chris Bell (third-round draft pick), and Kevin Coleman, Jr. (fifth-round draft pick), are all expected to see significant playing time during the season. Miami is also returning receiver Malik Washington , who appears to be entrenched as a starter.
