Previewing the Saints’ defensive matchup in preseason week 3
Yahoo Sports · August 27, 2026

Through two preseason games, the Dallas offense has lived up to expectations even without many starters playing up to this point. Former Tennessee quarterback Joe Milton III has performed masterfully as he competes for the QB2 spot behind Dak Prescott . He has managed to lead the Cowboys to the fifth-highest scoring offense at 25.5 points per game. Dallas also ranks tenth in passing yards per game at 219.5 and first in the league with 156 yards per game on the ground.
Meanwhile, the New Orleans defense has struggled to keep opponents out of scoring position, allowing 29 points a contest, a mark that ranks 31st in the league. Both of the teams that the Saints have faced previously this preseason, the Jacksonville Jaguars and Los Angeles Rams, are ranked within the top 12 in the NFL for scoring.
Dallas is projected to have one of the better offenses in the league for the 2026 season. With Prescott at the helm and a number of weapons at his disposal such as CeeDee Lamb , George Pickens , Javonte Williams , Jake Ferguson , etc., the Cowboys are likely to put up a lot of points this year.
