SONNY STILL SOLID Sonny Gray took the mound in search of his 17th win of the season. He pitched well, he just didn't have the (or any) necessary run support required to get there.

Gray surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits while striking out five Marlins in five innings. That's more than good enough to win, but ultimately (and no harm in doing so) the Red Sox punted to get revved up for the weekend in The Bronx.
