Lopez argues that defeating Romero changed the championship situation, but the WBA Championships Committee, not his legal team, will decide if the obligation carries over.
“The contract they signed, I was never involved in that contract or that agreement,” Lopez told The AHAT Show. “It’ll go to my legal team, and we’ll talk. I don’t duck anybody. We’ll fight.
“That contract they signed for an extension, for whatever it was, 180 days, was with the name Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero, not Teofimo Lopez. That means the whole situation with the mandatory changes now. It’s a reset, and I think people are forgetting that.”
