Shane Wright's Kraken Future Just Took A Stunning Turn Ahead Of Training Camp

With just 23 days remaining until the Seattle Kraken open training camp, the long NHL offseason is finally giving way to something resembling hockey. And for fans eager to see Kraken players back on the ice, the wait is even shorter than that.

Seattle's rookie camp opens Sept. 11 before the organization heads north to Abbotsford, British Columbia, for a rookie prospect showcase against the Vancouver Canucks on Sept. 12 and 13. It will offer an early look at several young players hoping to make an impression before the main roster arrives.

The real competition begins Sept. 17, when the Kraken officially open training camp and begin sorting through the roster ahead of the 2026-27 season. While the team's top-end talent is largely established, there could be legitimate competition for jobs in the bottom six — battles that may ultimately reveal how Seattle intends to play this season.
